Rakhmatulin Khalil Ahmedovich
(1911-1987) Academician of the Academy of Sciences of Uzbekistan, Doctor of Physical and Mathematical Sciences, Professor, three times Laureate of State Prizes, laureate of the State Prize named after Beruni, Hero of Labor, awarded more than 10 orders and medals, Honored Worker of Science and Technology of Uzbekistan. He graduated from Moscow State University in 1934. Academician of the Academy of Sciences of Uzbekistan since 1947. After the Tashkent earthquake of 1966, a deep study of wave processes began in the framework of the State programs of basic research with the aim of creating basic mathematical models for studying wave fields in the earth's crust of earthquake-prone regions of Uzbekistan. The creation of the Institute of Seismology provided an opportunity for the development of this area, in which academicians of the Academy of Sciences of Uzbekistan G.A. Mavlyanov and Kh.A. Rakhmatulin. They were excellent friends and paid serious attention to the development of the fundamentals of mathematical modeling in the seismology of Uzbekistan. Thanks to their efforts, the laboratory of Wave Dynamics and Computational Seismology was created for the first time in Central Asia. Research in the laboratory was mainly focused on mathematical modeling of wave processes in homogeneous media. The central task was to study the processes of wave propagation in elastic-porous, multicomponent and layered media, as a theoretical basis for the beginning of engineering seismology. Academician Kh.A. Rakhmatulin was a mentor and scientific director of the Laboratory of Wave Dynamics and Computational Seismology at the Institute of Seismology. HA. Rakhmatulin led the state tasks performed by the laboratory in 1969-1974. Under his leadership, defended doctoral thesis Ya.U. Saatova, Ph.D. theses Artikova, L.A. Khamidov and many others. The Institute and, on its presentation, the laboratory staff published more than 350 scientific articles in the Reports of the Academy of Sciences of Uzbekistan, in the Proceedings of the Academy of Sciences of Uzbekistan and in specialized journals of Russia, Ukraine, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Moldova and other Eurasian republics. Many employees of the laboratory of "Wave dynamics and computational seismology" of the Institute of Seismology during 1970-1987. internships, post-graduate and doctoral studies at the Department of Gas and Wave Dynamics of the Faculty of Mechanics and Mathematics of Moscow State University, which Academician Kh.A. Rakhmatulin led steadily, until the end of his life. Together with the laboratory staff, he published 2 monographs which later became specialized courses in wave dynamics at the Department of Gas and Wave Dynamics, Faculty of Mechanics and Mathematics, Moscow State University, Department of Applied Mechanics, Kiev State University, Department of Mechanics, Kazan University, Department of Mechanics, Kyrgyz State Polytechnic Institute, Department of Mechanics continuous media of the Faculty of Mechanics and Mathematics of Tashkent State University. The use of methods of mathematical physics in solving problems related to earthquakes, the creation on the basis of regional problems of mathematical models of the corresponding processes, he was one of the most priority scientific areas the development of theoretical seismology in Uzbekistan. All employees of the laboratory of Wave Dynamics and Computational Seismology (renamed in 1986 as the Laboratory of Mathematical Modeling and Automation of Seismological Research) served this faithfully.
