Mudir rasmi
MAMAROZIKOV TIMUR UMARJONOVICH

Laboratory Head, Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Geology and Mineralogy

MAIN SCIENTIFIC DIRECTIONS OF THE LABORATORY

 Study of aftershock processes of strong earthquakes;
 Analysis of seismic wave characteristics;
 Development of early warning systems;
 Assessment of seismic vulnerability of buildings and structures;
 Monitoring of dam reservoirs.
LABORATORY TASKS

 Development of guidelines and regulatory documents for creating a local seismic monitoring system;
 Research of seismic wave propagation features in the Earth’s crust;
 Creation of local seismological hodographs;
 Development and implementation of early warning technology for strong earthquakes;
 Creation of new generation seismometric equipment meeting international standards;
 Development of methodology for continuous monitoring systems of high-responsibility facilities and buildings based on instrumental-seismometric methods;
 Conducting seismic microzonation studies.

MAIN SCIENTIFIC RESULTS ACHIEVED IN RECENT YEARS

- A regional database of synthetic accelerograms was created for 12 regions and the Republic of Karakalpakstan, covering seismogenic zones in Uzbekistan and adjacent territories. Probabilities of exceedance at 90%, 95%, 98%, and 99% for various soil conditions were calculated for use by design organizations.

- A methodology for early warning and emergency reporting on strong earthquakes in Uzbekistan was developed, along with the “Strong Earthquake Warning” mobile application. The national early warning system for strong earthquakes was launched in test mode. An accelerometer for transmitting maximum P-wave acceleration values via network was developed. A “Seismic Impact Intensity Indicator” device based on the Arduino Uno microcontroller was produced.

To improve continuous instrumental seismological monitoring in seismically active areas, technogenic and microseismic measurements were conducted at the Tupolang, Hisorak, Pachkamar, Rezaksoy, Karkidon, Andijan, and Chorvoq reservoirs. Based on local engineering-geological and geomorphological data, vibration amplitudes caused by environmental factors, their resonance periods, and amplification coefficients were determined.
