MAIN SCIENTIFIC DIRECTIONS OF THE LABORATORY

• Investigation of liquefaction properties of fine-grained soils under strong seismic events;
• Study of the "soil–structure" system considering both static and dynamic properties of soils;
• Seismic microzonation of provinces, cities, and district centers;
• Determination of the design seismicity of construction sites with regard to soil conditions.


OBJECTIVES OF THE LABORATORY:

• To assess the dynamic behavior of soils with liquefaction potential in dispersed soil areas during strong earthquakes;
• To study seismic vibration characteristics on free surfaces and within “soil–structure” systems, taking into account the static and dynamic parameters of soils;
• To determine the design-level seismicity of construction sites based on engineering-geological and soil conditions;
• To conduct seismic microzonation research based on seismic surveys and instrumental investigations.

KEY SCIENTIFIC OUTCOMES IN RECENT YEARS:

• In accordance with Paragraph 39.1 of Presidential Decree No. PF-144 dated May 30, 2022, and Paragraph 7 of Presidential Resolution No. PQ-158 dated May 16, 2023, digital seismic microzonation maps have been developed for the following cities in Uzbekistan:
Andijan, Namangan, Fergana, Tashkent, Guliston, Nurafshon, Jizzakh, Samarkand, Karshi, Termez, Bukhara, Navoi, Nukus, Urgench, Zarafshan, Shakhrisabz,
• Kattakurgan, Kuvasoy, Khiva, Kokand, Angren, Kogon, Margilan, Khanabad

As part of the applied research project titled "Study of seismic vibration characteristics of the 'soil–structure' system and development of methods for mitigating earthquake impact", building foundations were categorized into three types: shallow, deep, and pile foundations.
The interaction between the “soil–structure” system and the “free field” was investigated.
